Psychology

One of the reasons that I wanted to write about Psychology is that it’s what I do in my day job. I know a lot about it and it’s easy for me to find world-class experts to interview.

The only difficulty is that, as undergraduates find every year, real psychology research requires a high degree of rigour. And as a professional it was hard for me to emphasise the interest rather than the rigour and precision. The result is that the piece about colour vision, an area in which I teach and do research, was the only piece that I have ever had to rewrite to satisfy the newspaper.
